SUMMARY:Paint it Orange Plein Air Paint-out and Wet Paint Sale
DESCRIPTION:Application Architects presents the 3rd annual Paint It Orange: Plein Air Paint-Out and Wet Paint Sale September 25-27\, 2019. Artists are invited to join us for two days this September to capture the landscapes and landmarks that are signature to our county. Local and visiting artists will paint the beauty and charm of Orange County en plein air. \nPainting en plein air\, or “in open air\,” encourages artists to evoke the beauty of the natural world by creating work on-site and recording only what they see. Plein air painting is seen throughout the history of art\, however it gained popularity with the Hudson River School and Impressionist movement in the mid-19th century. Although some artists specialize in this art form\, plein air painting can be achieved by artists of all types\,  who wish to draw inspiration from the landscape around them to create their work. \n​Artists will paint at their choice of site(s) in Orange County from September 25-27\, and will submit up to two of their favorite paintings for jurying on Friday\, September 27 at C3 Hillsborough. We are pleased to announce our guest juror will be Linda Dougherty\, North Carolina Museum of Art’s Chief Curator and Curator of Contemporary Art (click here to learn more). Awards for first\, second and third place\, People’s Choice and Sponsor’s Choice will be announced at 6 pm\, followed by a reception during the Last Fridays Art Walk and “Wet Paint Sale” in which the submitted paintings will be available for a “cash and carry” sale. A portion of the sales of these original paintings will benefit HAC and OCAC. Artists who wish to participate can find guidelines and registration information below. \n​Artists are encouraged to take advantage of early registration\, through August 31st\, for $25. Beginning September 1st\, the price increases to $30. ​$20 flat rate for students (must present valid student ID at check in). \n\n\n	Related
