The Orange County Arts Commission (OCAC) is pleased to announce recipients of the 2016 Fall Arts Grants. The OCAC awarded twenty-three arts grants, totaling $25,440 to the following projects taking place from January 1 – December 31, 2017:
- Carrboro Elementary School: North Carolina Youth Tap Ensemble and Mike Wiley in-school performances
- Cedar Grove Neighborhood Association: 6-week Youth Summer Enrichment Program
- Cedar Ridge High School: Orange County Public Schools’ 2017 Cultural Explosion
- Chapel Hill-Carrboro Public School Foundation: Writing workshop with poet Phillip Shabazz at Smith Middle School
- Chapel Hill-Carrboro Public School Foundation: Purchase of two Skoogs musical instruments for disabled students at McDougle Elementary School
- Chapel Hill High School Arts Academy: Residency with performer Kane Smego
- Chinese School at Chapel Hill: Chapel Hill LIGHTUP Lantern Festival
- Ephesus Elementary School Parent-Teacher Association: Residency with poet Jaki Shelton Green
- FRANK Gallery: FRANK: inFocus, Karen Youth and Rogers Road Community Outreach Programs
- Hillsborough Presbyterian Church: Last Fridays Live Music, Hillsborough
- Carter Hubbard: Floraffiti public art project, Chapel Hill (pictured)
- Mary Scroggs Elementary School Parent-Teacher Association: Paperhand Puppet Intervention in-school performance
- McDougle Elementary School Parent-Teacher Association: North Carolina Youth Tap Ensemble in-school performance
- New Hope Elementary School: Artist residency coalition project with Efland-Cheeks Global Elementary and Central Elementary Schools
- North Carolina Symphony Society: Concerts for Orange County/Chapel Hill-Carrboro elementary students
- Northside Elementary School: School garden bench project
- Northside Elementary School: Project Playscape
- One Song Productions: 2017 spring and summer productions
- Pathways Elementary: All-county elementary Choral Clinic
- Phillips Middle School Parent Teacher Student Association: North Carolina Youth Tap Ensemble and The Beast in-school performances
- Seawell Elementary School Parent-Teacher Association: Instrument building workshop with Billy Jonas
- Frances Talenti: Last Fridays Rap’unzel performance, Hillsborough
- Women’s Voices Chorus: Bridge of Songs Concert
OCAC Arts Grants are annually funded by the North Carolina Arts Council, a department of the North Carolina Department of Natural and Cultural Resources, and the Orange County Board of County Commissioners.
