The design submitted by artist and graphic designer Michael Brady was chosen as the Orange County Arts Commission’s 30th Anniversary Poster.
The Arts Commission recently sponsored a design competition for an original poster to celebrate the Arts Commission’s 30th year serving Orange County. Visual artists and graphic designers were invited to submit innovative and visually compelling designs.
Michael Brady’s submission consisted of a group of six separate posters, designed as a set, and a seventh poster, which shows all the other six in one view. Each poster represents one of six areas of artistic creation: painting, dance, sculpture, literature, music and theatre. The stylized outline of Orange County is the central shape-motif in each poster. He received a cash prize of $1,200 for this design.
Michael has more than 40 years of experience in all aspects of print design. He was a book designer at UNC-Chapel Hill for 20 years, retiring in 2008. He now operates Michael Brady Design in Hillsborough.
